Catherine Tyldesley's haul of '£77,000 worth of freebies' in one year amid cake gate

Catherine Tyldesley has shared a number of posts on Instagram promoting 'perks and freebies' said to be worth up to £70,000 after the former Corrie actress was embroiled in a row over 'free' cake

Catherine Tyldesley has promoted a number of 'perks and freebies' on Instagram said to be worth up to £70,000 in the last year.

The Coronation Street star, 39, hit the headlines this week after a party planner representing her was accused of trying to blag free cakes for the actress' 40th birthday.

Catherine claims she had no idea any request was made on her behalf, however she's no stranger to being the beneficiary of a few perks from businesses eager to associate themselves with her famous name.

In 2021, the mum-of-two and her husband Tom began doing up their home in Manchester — with help from a partnership with Magnet Kitchens, who kitted them out with a kitchen, said to be worth £13,000. Several walls in the house were repapered, courtesy of online retailer I Love Wallpaper while Catherine shared an image of her leather sofa - £3,999 from Sofology, plus a £499 footstool with the hashtag '#gift'.

Meanwhile, the actress picked up an electric white BMW iX3 in Manchester, writing on Instagram: "We were invited to the Williams retail centre, just down the road in Trafford City. I can't begin to tell you how special and unique the 'reveal' and handover process is. Epic would be the right word." Revealing the post was an 'ad', she thanked Williams Motor Group for the family's new car.

The actress also appears to have enjoyed a number of free nights in swanky hotels. Last month, she shared photographs from a trip to London to watch pal Jason Manford, who has defended Catherine over 'cake gate' in The Wizard Of Oz musical. Taking to Instagram, she wrote: "Thank you for a gorgeous stay ME London hotel." She tagged the post '#PRstay'. Rooms at the five-star hotel on The Strand cost a whopping £484 a night.

But it's not just nights in hotels the actress enjoys, there's also the free fashion. Catherine recently shared a photo of herself in a beautiful floral frock and leather sandals, both from LK Bennett priced at £499 and £259 respectively, which she says were "#gifted."

Following the cake gate scandal, Catherine took to social media saying saying party planners NVRLAND had been "misrepresented", adding she hopes the "cake lady got the exposure she was craving".

However, Three Little Birds Bakery claim they've been threatened with legal action by NVRLND" after sharing screenshots of emails between themselves and the party planning company.

In response to NVRLAND's email asking for a sizeable order of cakes for a celebrity's birthday party in exchange for "social media promotion," the bakery replied: "I’m so sorry to hear that your client has fallen on such hard times they can’t afford to pay small businesses their products. Unfortunately as my mortgage provider doesn’t take payment 'in the form of promotion on their socials', and my staff can’t feed their kids with exposure on Instagram, I’ll have to decline your very generous offer."

The Mirror has contacted Catherine's reps for comment on this story.
